Welcome

Mission Statement

The Honors College at the University of Oklahoma provides a supportive and challenging academic program for intellectually motivated undergraduate students. Offering an enriching interdisciplinary curriculum through its diverse programs, the Honors College supports students in a full range of academic pursuits. Carefully designed small classes, a collegial environment, and close advising prepare students for advanced study leading to the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, or any other bachelor's degree offered at the University. The Honors College at the University of Oklahoma seeks to inspire students to a lifetime of broad intellectual curiosity and continuing self-sustained inquiry and personal growth.

Welcome from the Honors College Faculty

We welcome all our Honors College students; it is our good fortune to teach and learn from all of our students at the University of Oklahoma. We look forward to getting to know you individually and supporting you during your journey through college. We believe the most fruitful and illuminating conversations come when we invite and encourage multiple perspectives in our learning environments. We value students of all colors, all genders, all ages, all abilities, and all positions of faith and unbelief. We value our LGBTQ+ students and their allies. We value the perspectives of those whose ancestors have long been here as First Peoples, as well as those who have arrived from many parts of the world. We encourage all our students to maintain the respectful rapport that is a hallmark of the Honors College, and to use your creativity, passion, and intelligence to meet the challenges of our day.

Welcome to Dean Kelvin White

Interim Dean Kelvin White

We are excited to introduce Dr. Kelvin White as the Interim Dean of the Honors College, pending final approval by the OU Board of Regents. Dr. White succeeds Dr. Rich Hamerla, who has served as Interim Dean since August 2020 and is returning to the faculty to focus on teaching and scholarship.

Dr. White has been a valuable member of the OU faculty since 2008 and has served as the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Community in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences. His exemplary leadership includes overseeing faculty-related policies and processes, faculty and staff evaluations, tenure and promotion, faculty recruitment and retention, and fostering inclusivity for over 600 faculty members and 200 staff.

Dr. White's research focuses on the intersections of social, cultural, and historical contexts in recordkeeping activities and their impact on marginalized communities. He has also made significant contributions to the archival community through the Archival Education and Research Institute.

We look forward to Dr. White's expertise and leadership continuing to elevate the Honors College, and we eagerly anticipate his positive impact on our academic community. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kelvin White to this new role.
